Franklin Pierce University’s Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program recently received news that it was approved for full accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). ACEN’s Board of Commissioners met on March 13-14 and granted initial accreditation to Franklin Pierce’s MSN program and its post-Master’s Certificate in Nursing Education; the program received notice of full accreditation status on April 11.
Lisa J. Hogan, Ph.D., DNP, CRNA, Director of Nursing Education at Franklin Pierce, is proud of the accomplishments within the University’s Nursing programs. “We are doing everything we can at Franklin Pierce to make a quality education in nursing as accessible as possible,” says Dr. Hogan. Students generally take a combination of online and in-class courses at one of Franklin Pierce’s College of Graduate & Professional Studies centers in Manchester, Lebanon, or Portsmouth. “We even offer Nursing programs on site at Wentworth Douglass, Dartmouth Hitchcock, and Exeter Hospitals,” she said.
Franklin Pierce’s MSN program serves nurses with an Associate degree in Nursing or a Bachelor degree in any of a variety of disciplines. Students who choose to enroll in Franklin Pierce’s program to earn an MSN in either Nursing Leadership or Nursing Education often do so in order to gain the skills necessary to advance in an already established nursing career, or to embark on a second career. The now fully accredited MSN program will have its next scheduled evaluation visit in the fall of 2018.
