Franklin Pierce University Graduate Students Receive International SHRM Merit Award

June 11, 2014

image textThe Franklin Pierce University Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Student Chapter is one of the top student chapters from among the more than 450 SHRM student chapters worldwide. Franklin Pierce’s student chapter has received SHRM’s “Merit Award” and will be formally commended at the 2014 SHRM International Annual Conference in Orlando on June 21. SHRM is the world’s largest professional association devoted to Human Resource (HR) management, with more than 225,000 members in 125 countries.

“This is no small accomplishment, given that our chapter is one of the only online SHRM student chapters in the world, and all of our students are working professionals who are taking graduate level courses," said Dr. Carol Gravel, assistant professor in Franklin Pierce’s M.B.A. program. "They meet monthly online to organize webinars, professional development opportunities, and networking events. I am very proud of our SHRM student chapter leadership team, because they foster a rich and rewarding HR network for our online graduate students," she said. Efforts to fulfill the requirements of the SHRM Merit Award were led by Franklin Pierce SHRM Student Chapter President Julie Gilman.

Franklin Pierce’s SHRM chapter operates through the University’s College of  Graduate & Professional Studies, which offers advanced degrees and certificates for adults and working professionals in multiple locations around New England, as well as online. Its SHRM student chapter is a SHRM affiliated professional organization; its membership is open to current students or graduates of the University’s M.B.A. in Human Resource Management or Human Resource Certificate programs.
