The Doctor of Arts in Leadership program at Franklin Pierce University prepares students to assume transformational roles in society. The program brings together a diverse group of professionals from many disciplines including health care, business, education, law enforcement, human services, the arts and more. Students work closely together to challenge and inspire each other. This cohort model offers a unique opportunity for professional collaboration in a dynamic learning community.
The program’s interdisciplinary treatment of leadership recognizes that society’s most effective leaders are those who take a broad approach to change by using transformational skills grounded in the arts and humanities. The power of transformational leadership is not power over others, but the power of understanding oneself, the power of understanding other cultures and societies, and the power of understanding how to use leadership to inspire others to move beyond self interest to accomplish a greater societal good.
The Doctor of Arts in Leadership is designed with working professionals in mind. The program is highly individualized, with students working closely with faculty and mentors to define and achieve their goals. Students complete the program in three to four years with monthly weekend seminars at Franklin Pierce learning sites in Concord, Lebanon and Portsmouth.
