For Transfer Students

Whether you have just completed one semester, are a graduate of a two-year college or are attending a four-year college, you are welcome to apply for entrance in the fall or spring semesters. The admissions process for transfer students is similar for students applying directly from high school with some differences:

Transfer Policy

Transfer students with 26 or more transferable credits will be waived from taking the Freshman Seminar Course (IC101 Individual and Community) and also may be waived from submitting SAT/ACT scores depending on which courses do transfer. Students from associate degree granting regionally accredited colleges can receive up to 75 credits (90 credits for students from baccalaureate degree granting regionally accredited colleges) in transfer for completed courses at the appropriate academic level (carrying credit toward graduation) with a final grade of "C" or higher. A complete policy statement regarding transfer credits is available from the Registrar.

Transfer Credit Evaluation Process
A preliminary transfer credit evaluation will be completed shortly after a student is offered admission to Franklin Pierce University. This evaluation will reflect transferable courses fulfilling requirements in our Individual and Community Liberal Arts Core Curriculum, academic major area and academic electives. One semester at Franklin Pierce University must be completed satisfactorily before transfer credit becomes final.

Transfer Student Housing
Transfer students who choose to live in campus housing will be placed in the most appropriate housing available at time of assignment. Returning Franklin Pierce students choose their housing prior to new student (freshman and transfer) housing assignments.

Transfer Student Advising
Incoming transfer students are assigned an academic advisor when they arrive on campus. Once the student declares an academic major, a faculty member from that department will become their academic advisor.

Transfer Student Scholarships
Five Transfer Scholarships of $3,000.00 per year will be awarded to incoming transfer students who have completed their Associate Degree by the spring semester. The Transfer Scholarships are in addition to other academic grants and scholarships (Success Grants, Provost Scholarships, and Presidential Scholarships) awarded by the University.

International Transfers
Franklin Pierce University welcomes transfer students from across the globe. Students who have attended a post secondary institution outside of the United States must have that official transcript evaluated by World Education Services. You can go directly to their website ( to apply for their services. Learn more.
