Health Services Visits

Students are asked to call ext. 4130 to set up appointments at Health Services. By calling for an appointment in advance, you can decrease waiting time and allow adequate time with the appropriate health care provider. Walk-in acute care situations and emergencies are given priority attention. Health Services hours are Monday - Friday 8AM- 4:30PM during the academic year. EMT coverage is available after hours. For emergencies call ext. 5555.

Health Insurance Eligibility

Franklin Pierce University does not provide health insurance coverage to students. With the passing of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), all individuals are mandated to have a certain level of Health Care Insurance. As a result, students are required to provide Health Services with their insurance information prior to enrolling in course work. International students who do not qualify for insurance under the ACA may find resources within the section titled "International Insurance."

International Students

Students who are without health insurance coverage in the U.S. need to purchase health insurance for the duration of their attendance at Franklin Pierce University. For more information on International Student Protection insurance, view Student Health Insurance for International Students in the U.S.

We provide starter dosage of over-the-counter medications. We have a limited in-house pharmacy for students and we utilize a local pharmacy for prescription medications we do not have on hand.

Franklin Pierce Health Services is legally and ethically obligated to protect students' right to privacy. Your medical records are strictly confidential. No one other than FP Health Services staff has access to your medical records without your prior written permission through a Medical Records Release Form. This restriction includes your parents, faculty and staff or outside agencies. Certain communicable diseases need to be reported to the Department of Public Health and you will be informed of this action prior to Health Services calling the Department.

Health Record Requirement

The State of New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services licenses Franklin Pierce Health Services. A completed medical file for each student is required to be maintained in Health Services. These files consist of a Health Assessment Form, a physical exam within 2 years of admission, proof of immunizations (two MMRs, meningitis vaccine, TB screening within one year for U.S. students. For international students, these immunizations are required within 12 weeks of arrival in the U.S., and a tetanus vaccine within 10 years is required) and a signed consent form for medical treatment. Until compliant, students who do not meet these requirements will have a "hold" placed on their registration for the following semester.

Franklin Pierce Health Services is a Health Care facility providing health promotion and comprehensive, skilled and compassionate services to the college student community. Whether it's the flu that won't go away, anxieties about personal issues, or questions about staying healthy, we can help you get the care you need. We are dedicated to you and to maintaining the highest quality of service in a confidential, convenient, and caring professional setting.
